Values

DEPENDENCE
We rely on Jesus for everything

“I am the vine…apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

Every good thing comes from God and He designed us to need Him. So, the first thing we do is seek Him. We do it personally through time devoted to connecting with Him in spiritual practices. We do it corporately through prayer to receive His guidance, provision and grace.

INCLUSION
We see no one as outside our circle

“Christ died for all…so we regard no one from a human point of view.” (2 Corinthians 5:15-16)

We will be a church without walls. Whether someone is a part of the church or still yet to follow Jesus. Every person is God’s creation and invaluable to Him. We exemplify this by making every effort to make sure every person knows they are loved and belong with us.

LIFE-CHANGE
We pour into each other

“From Christ the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16)

We know God’s good purpose for us is to reflect the image of Jesus, personally and corporately. His grace works this out in us as we trust and obey Him. All of this happens in the context of life-giving relationships. So, we make every effort to help everyone be connected in a discipling relationship for the purpose of becoming more like Jesus.

SERVICE
We jump at the chance to give ourselves away

“The greatest among you should be like…the one who serves.” (Luke 22:26)

Self-sacrifice helps every person experience the life of Jesus. So we seek to humble ourselves before Him and others. We know when we serve, we honor Jesus, bless everyone around us and set our own hearts free.

MISSION
We live to introduce everyone to Jesus

“I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” (1 Corinthians 9:22)

There is no one on the planet that is outside of God’s grace and that He didn’t give His life for. That love is now in our hearts through God’s Spirit, to empower us to be His witnesses. We work hard to be prepared to share with everyone the reason for the hope we have with gentleness and respect.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s unique revelation to people. It is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and the supreme and final authority on all matters upon which it teaches. No other writings are vested with such divine authority.

We believe there is only One God
There is only one God, creator of heaven and earth, who exists eternally as three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each fully God yet each personally distinct from the other.

Jesus Christ, second Person of the Trinity, was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, willingly took upon Himself all of our sins, died and rose again bodily, and is at the right hand of the Father as our advocate and mediator. Someday, He will return to consummate history and to fulfill the eternal plan of God.

The Holy Spirit, third Person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin and draws people to Christ. He also indwells all believers. He empowers them to lead Christ-like lives and gives them spiritual gifts with which to serve the church and reach out to a lost and needy world.

We believe that all people matter
All people are created in God’s image and matter deeply to Him. Central to the message of the Bible is that God loves people and invites them to live in communion with Himself and in community with each other.

Apart from Jesus Christ, all people are spiritually lost and, because of sin, separated from the life of God. But God has moved through Christ to reconcile everyone to Himself. He gives salvation and eternal life to anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice on his or her behalf. Salvation cannot be earned through personal goodness or human effort. It is a gift that must be received by humbly turning to God and putting one’s faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross.

Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. At the final judgment, those who chose to reject God’s gift of salvation and reconciliation will be separated from God for eternity. Those who accepted His free gift of forgiveness and received Christ into their lives will be welcomed into God’s loving presence and rewarded for their faithfulness to Him in this life.

We believe the church should be tight, focused, and out there
All believers are members of the body of Christ, the one true church universal. Spiritual unity is to be expressed among Christians by acceptance and love of one another across ethnic, cultural, socio-economic, national, generational, gender and denominational lines.

The local church is not something you attend, it is a group of people who gather corporately to encounter Jesus Christ through worship, instruction of God’s Word and by encouraging one another. The church is also a group of people who love each other the way Jesus loved them. They are committed to one another all week long, caring for each other’s needs and building up each other’s faith. The church also exists as God’s plan to bring the way of Christ to all the earth and to proclaim His message of great love and salvation for all people.

FAQ

Where are you located and when are your services?
We currently meet at 5:00pm on Saturday nights at Southeast Christian Church. 1881 E Vine St. Murray, UT 84121. We are in the process of pursuing our own building.

What should I wear to your weekly public gathering?
Whatever you feel comfortable in! There’s no dress code at K2. Just come as you are!

What do you have for kids?
K2 loves kids & families. We welcome children to attend our worship services with their families. Once the welcome, announcements, and musical worship portion of the service have finished, children in kindergarten through 5th grade are dismissed to attend their own on-site classes in Adventure Canyon. These classes are led by trained, background-checked volunteers who love kids and can’t wait to meet and actively engage your children. Many children attend Adventure Canyon each week, so everyone is checked in electronically and receives a personal name badge to make sure they are known and safe; only the person registering them is allowed to pick them up. K2 provides loving, secure care for children younger than kindergarten age, as well.

What do you have for teens?
We have a full-time youth director, Cloe Sadiq, who leads both our Jr. High and Sr. High students. They meet on Sunday nights. You can get more information on our youth page.

How can I get connected?
The best first step is to try out a Community Group. These are groups that meet once a month to share a meal, build friendships and just do life together! There are different groups around the valley to help you connect with those you live near. Once you get connected into a Community Group, we then provide smaller discipleship groups of 3-5 for the purpose of pouring into each other to grow in our faith. These groups usually form organically as people connect with one another. But if you are interested in pursuing a group don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll help you join one!

Are you involved in serving the community?
Yes we are! Jesus came to bring the way of heaven to earth! Everywhere He went He was meeting people’s practical needs. We do a monthly Food & Clothing Pantry as well as other outreaches to our homeless friends. We are also actively involved in supporting those who are working with children in foster care. We also are engaged in serving the global community with long term partnerships in Eswatini, Africa and Honduras. Go to our outreach page for more detailed information on these opportunities

Are you a part of a particular denomination?
No we are not. We like to say we are inter-denominational. This simply means people at K2 have come from all different church backgrounds. We believe strongly in the unity of the church and hold firmly to the classic phrase – “In the essentials unity. In non-essentials liberty. In all things love.
